The 2nd annual Ghana Construction Awards was held on Friday, 25th November, 2016 at the prestigious Kempinski Gold Coast City Hotel in Accra.
The widely acclaimed and influential Awards ceremony organised by InstinctWave, organizers of the Ghana Information Technology and Telecom Awards,, was designed to help focus attention on the construction industry’s contribution and value to the Nation’s economy, as well as to recognize and reward the exceptional companies whose dynamic, innovative and professional approach to projects are creating new frontiers in the Industry.
The Ghana Construction Awards also presented the opportunity for stakeholders to advocate for the industrialization of the Country by way of investments in the area of Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Industrial Construction and Residential Construction.
Nominees of the various award categories were carefully selected after the Board of Trustees had reviewed all entries and made their own research into entries submitted by the various companies.
According to Akin Naphtal, CEO of InstinctWave, “The construction sector plays an important role in economic growth. For instance the industry contributed about 11.8% to Ghana’s overall GDP in 2013. However, the construction sector has been overlooked in terms of rewarding innovation and creativity. Our goal is to celebrate the achievements of those construction companies who have made it their responsibility to transform the construction industry and advance the Ghana’s infrastructural development.”
This year, new award categories were admitted after careful research based on market intelligence and submissions by industry experts. This included new categories that reflected a better representation of the Industry. One of such, was the Industry Personality of the Year award which was presented to Ing. Michael Krakue, the Chairman of ADK Consortium, a multi-disciplinary professional team of architects, civil engineers, service engineers, and quantity surveyors. He was awarded for his sterling contributions, exemplary efforts as well as his drive and enthusiasm in promoting and maintaining the integrity of good engineering practices and enhancing the beauty of infrastructure development.
