Development of Kumasi Airport Project Phase II

ADK Consortium is the Supervising Consultant on the Kumasi Airport Expansion Project, located in the Ashanti Region, which encompasses the extension of the current length of the runway from 1,981 metres to 2,300metres, construction of new airfield ground lighting landside, access roads, car park, construction of a new terminal building, with the capacity to handle 1 million passengers per year; construction of 2No. apron stands and related taxiway; and the undertaking of ancillary airport facilities. This is to facilitate safe and comfortable air travel, landings and takeoffs of larger aircrafts and also provide proper drainage systems.
The completion of this project in 30 months forms part of the multi-modal transportation system embarked upon by the Government of Ghana, comprising air, marine, railways and road transportation, which is expected to stimulate the growth of the country’s industrial and agricultural sectors, and to boost the tourism potential of the Ashanti Region.
